This little gal came to my bay when I worked at AANW. There was quit a lot done to her then; a full seal job of seams and roof top, the rubber gaskets were replaced in all the windows, the opening and locking systems cleaned and lubed. But the main thing was not able to be done then, the window on curb side.
So it left on its way, with its window freshly covered in new plastic……..
Over a couple of years later it has found its was back into my hands, with the window covering still there…….
So after a lot of calling custom glass shops and such…….
We have found no replacement glass but to buy a hole donor trailer from 1967-68 as they were the only years with this glass. The Lexan was ordered at ¼” (not the glass with of 1/8”) for structural integratory, cut down to right size for the hinge and locking clips of the window thickness, then bent slightly for the needed J curve of the upper part of the Airstreams lines. We then installed Lexan replacement into the opening and secured it and tested for seal and closure. This will work until a window can be scored off another used Airstream of if someone starts manufacturing them again. Until then happy viewing.
